Reunion 2005

Intro

Join alumni and friends of NYSC for the NYSCAA 42nd Reunion in Washington, DC from August 11-14, 2005. We are still busy planning the activities for this reunion, but intend on visiting many sites in and around DC including the Smithsonian, the new Air and Space Museum Annex, the Virginia wine country, and much more. We'll even be taking a Segway Tour and exploring downtown DC via the Segway® human transporter. This is a perfect opportunity to take a vacation in our nation's capitol and visit with old friends and fellow alums. We encourage you to bring your family along and extend your stay.

Register today! You are welcome to go ahead and register at the hotel (see below), and you need to reserve your room by July 11, 2005. Rooms may be available after that time, but the reduced group rate is not guaranteed.

We'd love to see you for the whole reunion, but if your schedule is tight, you're more than welcome to join us to spend the day with fellow alumni, the banquet on Saturday, or just to say hi (just select the Single Day option on the registration form).

Whether you'll be attending or not, make sure to fill out the Bio Update Form. Keep us up-to-date and let us know your current address, family additions, career moves, and anything else you would like to share!

Saturday dinner is the feast, which will be included in your registration fee. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.

The hotel is across the street from the Rosslyn Metro station on the blue and orange lines. We will have some car seats available and will help folks with ride sharing when needed.

Schedule and Activities

We are still busy planning all the activities surrounding this reunion. Washington, DC has many attractions and we will try to hit a few of our favorites. You may want to book a couple of extra days in the area to see some more of this great city.

Saturday morning is the NYSCAA business meeting, and Saturday evening is the Alumni Banquet. Locations we may be visiting are the Smithsonian, the new Udvar-Hazy annex to the Air and Space Museum, Virginia wine country, the National Zoo, and much more. Let us know if there is something specific you would like to see or do! There will also be time to enjoy the many interesting shops and restaurants near the hotel, catch up with your old friends and meet some new ones. We are scheduling time for seminars, tentatively Sunday morning, if people are interested. Bring your swim suits, walking shoes, and camp memories for a great time!

Here is the tentative schedule of events.

Accomodations

Reunion 2005 will be based out of the Best Western Key Bridge in Arlington, VA, just across Key Bridge from historic Georgetown. We chose this hotel based on its central location, proximity to public transportation, and great rates. Room rates for double occupancy will be $47 a night per person. This includes parking, high-speed Internet access, and a deluxe continental breakfast.

See the Accomodations page for lodging information. We have reserved a block of rooms, so you'll need to make your hotel reservations by July 11th. Rooms may be available after that time, but the reduced group rate is not guaranteed.

Planning to stay with a friend? That's fine, you can still hang out in our common room and join us for all activities, but you do need to register for the reunion itself.

Want to share a room? Email with the following information:

  • Name
  • Phone & email
  • Number of desired roommates, up to 4 per room (more than 2 people in a room means sharing a double bed)
  • Any requirements or preferences on roomates, e.g., nonsmoking female
  • Any roomates you already have confirmed

Parking at the Hotel

There is limited parking available and some street/metered parking. We are asking all the folks who are staying at the hotel to request a parking pass, so we should have a few available for locals who are driving to join us. Please contact Michelle or Omar, or stop into the hospitality suite (after first finding temporary legal parking).
