Schedule and Activities

We've planned all the activities surrounding this reunion, and just like camp, we can hint at, but not promise, some great suprises. Alumni activities will be based out of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center near Davis, West Virginia.
Here is the tentative schedule of events (updated on June 29, 2008):
Sunday, June 29, 2008
- 12:00 Noon to 10:00 PM — Alumni arrive at Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center.
Monday, June 30, 2008
- 9:45 AM — Gather in the lobby of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 10:00 AM — Leave for outdoor activities:
- 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM — Outdoor activities
- 3:30 PM — Return from outdoor activities
- 5:00 PM — Leave for dinner. Options include:
- 8:00 PM — Visiting and mingling with fellow alumni
Tuesday, July 1, 2008
- 9:45 AM — Gather in the lobby of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 10:00 AM — Leave for outdoor activities:
- 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM — Outdoor activities
- 3:30 PM — Return from outdoor activities
- 6:00 PM — Leave for dinner at the Purple Fiddle
- 8:00 PM — Music at the Purple Fiddle
- 10:00 PM — Return to the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
Wednesday, July 2, 2008
- 9:30 AM — Gather in the lobby of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 9:45 AM — Leave for Cass Scenic Railroad for those wanting to take a train ride
- Train ride is at 12:00 Noon
- Tickets are $12 for adults
- Gift shop
- Restaurant
- Ice cream parlor
- 10:15 AM — Leave for Cass Scenic Railroad for those wanting to enjoy Cass without the train ride
- Gift shop
- Restaurant
- Ice cream parlor
- 2:00 PM — Leave for Camp Pocahontas
- 3:15 PM to 5:30 PM — Alumni seminars
- 6:30 PM — Dinner at Laura Dill Dining Hall with current NYSC 2008 delegates
- 7:30 PM — Return to the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
Thursday, July 3, 2008
- 9:00 AM — Gather in the lobby of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center. Bring warm clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
- 9:15 AM — Leave for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory
- 12:00 Noon — Lunch at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory
- 1:00 PM — Leave for the Sinks of Gandy Creek
- 4:30 PM — Return to the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 7:00 PM — Leave for dinner. Options include:
- Blackwater Brewing Company
- Sirianni's Cafe
- Canaan Valley Resort
- 8:30 PM — Return to the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
Friday, July 4, 2008 — Independence Day
- 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM — Local Tours:
- 11:30 AM — Gather in the lobby of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 11:45 AM — Leave for Camp Allegheny
- 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM — Lunch at Camp Allegheny
- 5:00 PM — Travel to Camp Pocahontas
- 6:00 PM — Dinner at the Laura Dill Dining Hall with after dinner entertainment
- 8:00 PM — Return to the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center

- 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon — Local Tours:
- Swimming, basketball and golf at the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- Blackwater Falls State Park
- Wind turbines
- Fairfax Stone
- Towns of Thomas and Davis
- 12:30 AM — Gather in the lobby of the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 1:00 PM — Leave for the dedication of the National Center for Youth Science Education — future home of the National Youth Science Camp
- 6:00 PM — Farewell Banquet at the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center
- 8:00 PM — Visiting and mingling with fellow alumni
