We're excited to announce the location of the 2017 NYSCAA annual reunion - the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina!

An easy drive from D.C., Baltimore, Raleigh/Durham, Richmond, and even the NJ/NY area, it's a wonderful summer vacation destination with lots of fascinating history - the Wright Brothers, the Lost Colony, pirates, shipwrecks, wild horses, lighthouses, and much more.

Closest airports are Norfolk (ORF - an 80 minute drive) and Raleigh (RDU - a 3.5 hour drive) for those who want to fly in. We're working on transportation and carpool options from the airports if you prefer not to rent a car.

For those who want to spend a full week on the coast, reasonably-priced accommodations will be available for the full week of August 7-13, 2017.

Registration fees cover the cost of snacks and beverages for the hospitality suite, including light breakfast food on Friday to Sunday. Dinner on Thursday night is also included.

Reunion dinner + boat ride

For Saturday night, we have booked a sunset cruise on the Crystal Dawn. Our reunion dinner will be served aboard the boat.

  • Reunion dinner + boat ride on Saturday: $50

Accomodations

We have reserved Camp Emmanuel, a group of small cabins in a maritime forest on Colington Island. The camp also has a campfire circle and frisbee / tent camping field, and we hope the setting will bring back fond memories of Camp Pocahontas.

The cabins do have bunks, so if you choose this option you may end up sharing a cabin with other reunion attendees, depending on how many attendees we have. Each cabin sleeps between 6-10 people and has air conditioning, a private toilet room, private shower room, and central sink area. Please let us know if you require an accessible cabin so we can plan accordingly.

Pets are not permitted at camp, but there is the Ocean Sands K-9 Resort kennel at the end of the camp road, if you'd like to board your dogs at night and take them on adventures during the day.

The reunion is from Thursday to Sunday, August 10-13, 2017, but we have reserved the camp for the full week. If you would like to extend your Outer Banks vacation, you are welcome to arrive as early as Monday, August 7 to check in. Please indicate below how many nights you plan to stay at camp. Bunk prices include linens.

  • Cabin (bunk) - adult: $45 per person, per night
  • Cabin (bunk) - children (3 to 18): $25 per person, per night
  • Tent camping: $15 per person, per night

If you prefer not to stay at camp, the area has plenty of hotels and AirBnB options that can be booked separately. A few options are listed below, but any accommodations in the Kill Devil Hills area will be reasonably close to camp:

Additional Activities

  • 10am Kayak tour on Friday - Kitty Hawk Woods Maritime Forest: $40 per person
  • 10am Dolphin cruise on Saturday - Nags Head Dolphin Watch: $25 per person
