Schedule

As of August 8, 2005, here is the tentative schedule of events. Some things are still TBD, and we'd be happy to get suggestions for places you'd like to visit. Feel free to email the reunion organizers at or call one of the Reunion Coordinators (see phone numbers below) if you want to try to catch up with us "live" somewhere.

Hospitality Suite – Omar Ahmad's (FL 1982) room is the hospitality suite and will be a central gathering place, message board, etc. We'll have snacks, sodas, and bottled water available in the suite. Stop by for refreshments and to "find" people. We'll provide the room number when you register or call one of the coordinators.

All Day – Folks arrive. Official hotel check in time is 3pm. If you arrive earlier, there may be a room available for you. We will have the hospitality suite open by at least 3pm, and a DC reunion organizer will be hanging out in the lobby looking obvious. Pick up a welcome packet at the front desk or in the hospitality suite.

4:45pm – Meet at hospitality suite/hotel lobby to walk to metro for Kennedy Center Millennium Stage Performance at 6pm. The performance is free; we just need to be there a bit ahead of time to snag a spot to sit/stand.

6pm – Kennedy Center Millennium Stage free performance – "Students from Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell" [Schedule]

7pm – Dinner (not included in registration fee). We'll choose someplace inexpensive near the Kennedy Center or near the hotel. Check back later this week for more details or CALL one of the Reunion contacts if you are out at the last minute and want to catch up with us.

Evening (around 9pm) – Back at the hospitality suite, to hang out, nosh on snacks, have dessert, etc. Each evening we'll have the hospitality room open for gathering and snacks.

Morning – The Best Western Key Bridge hotel offers a deluxe continental breakfast for registered hotel guests.

9:45am – Leave for the Smithsonian "Behind the Scenes" Tour from the hotel lobby

10:30am to Noon – "Behind the Scenes" Tour of the Entomology Department of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Go behind the exhibits to see the large collection of amazing insects, hear about the research being conducted by Smithsonian scientists, etc. There is no fee for this special tour.

If you want to met us there, meet us at 10:15am at the visitor/guard station on the Constitution Ave. side of the the Museum (located at Constitution, between 12th & 10th St., NW; closest metro stop: Federal Triangle/orange line; walk 1 block south on 12th (toward Washington Monument), then east 1/2 block on Constitution.

Noon – Lunch at the Old Post Office Pavillion Food Court (if you have paid a registration fee, we'll be giving you a $5 "rebate" towards lunch) followed by tour of the tower (and one of the best views of DC).

After Lunch – Touristing on the mall

Museums and Memorials ... whatever the group wants to do! Some that have been mentioned:

2pm – Ornithology tour at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Meet at same visitor/guard station as the morning "Behind the Scenes" tour.

6pm – Meet at the hospitality suite to go to dinner (not included in reunion fee) or join us directly at [To be determined - check the Web site, the hospitality suite door, or call one of the reunion contacts the day of to catch up with us].

6:30pm – Meet in the hospitality suite to travel together to the Clarendon Metro for dinner at Hard Times Cafe —OR— meet us directly at the restaurant at 7pm.

7pm – Dinner at Hard Times Cafe (not included in registration fee). Although technically not included, we may be able to cover some of the dinner costs from the reunion fee. The restaurant is located directly across the street from the Clarendon Metro stop on the Orange line.

Evening (TBD after dinner) – We might go to the free Contra Dance in the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park. Admission is $8. There is a beginner's lesson every Friday from 7:30pm to 8:15pm which is included in the price of admission. The dance with live music runs from 8:30pm to 11:30pm.

Evening (around 9pm) – Back at the hospitality suite, to hang out, have some wine and dessert, etc.

Morning – The Best Western Key Bridge hotel offers a deluxe continental breakfast for registered hotel guests.

9:30am – The NYSCAA annual meeting will begin at 9:30 AM (location TBD). All alumni are encouraged to attend and participate. The officers promise a well organized and relatively quick meeting.

11:30am – Lunch in the hospitality suite (included)

1pm – Activities to be determined (yep, that's right ... check back here later for more details, or call those Reunion organizers crazy enough to publish their cell phones!)

6:30pm – Meet in hospitality suite to go to Feast —OR— go meet directly at Feast at 7pm

7pm – Feast at La Tasca, Spanish Tapas Restaurant in the Market Common at Clarendon [Take the Metro Orange Line to Clarendon]. If you are a local alum and want to join us, it's not too late ... please email or call us. We'd love to see you.

Alumni are encouraged to spend additional time in Washington, DC to take full advantage of all of our attractions. All of the planners have their favorite things to see in the area, so email us at if you'd like some ideas.
