Accomodations

There are many options for accomodations ranging from tents on the lawn to villas. While we recommend that you stay with the group up at the Snowshoe site, there are also several local "bed and breakfast" cottages at the bottom of the hill in Cass and other locations.

Lodging at Snowshoe Mountain

Most folks will be staying at Snowshoe's Mountain Lodge or Spruce Lodge. The Convention Center is on the lower floor of Mountain Lodge. Spruce Lodge is roughly 500 meters away, lower on the mountain. There is no constraint on the number of people in a room, however, the number of towels will be limited based on the room request. All room reservations are directly with Snowshoe Resort, and your financial responsibility.

To reserve a room or confirm tent space, contact Snowshoe Central Reservations at 1-877-441-4386. Make sure to identify yourself as a National Youth Science Camp Alumni Association (NYSCAA) attendee in order to qualify for the discounted group rate at the time of reservation. They accept plastic.

Note: If you use the Snowshoe Online Reservations Web site, you will pay the non-group rate unless they make changes in the system, and they did not make any promises.

These room rates are good until June 4, 2003 (but may be available after that date, just identify yourself as an NYSCAA reunion attendee!) for the following lodges in the Village Central lodging complex at Snowshoe Mountain.

Mountain Lodge (at conference center)
Includes a hide-a-bed in living room
One Bedroom (double bed or two twin beds): $89
Two Bedrooms and Bathrooms (as above): $138

Spruce Lodge
(about 500 meters downhill from conference center)
Room with two double beds: $65
Bunk room (4 beds): $65

Rimfire Lodge / Highland House
(further downhill)
Junior Studio: $90
Studio: $95
One Bedroom: $120
Two Bedroom: $172

Room Sharing Support

Want to share a room? Contact our Roommate Coordinator Rita Foley (MI 1980) at or (313) 226-9520 with the following information:

  • Name
  • Phone
  • Any requirements or preferences on roomates, e.g., nonsmoking female
  • Any roomates you already have confirmed

Rita will ask one of the room sharing individuals to become "room czar" and make the reservation for their room. The others in that room will need to split the bill with the lodge or pay that czar. The room rate is constant, independent of the number of occupants. There are "bunk rooms" that sleep 4 to 6 people as well as normal rooms with space for 2 to 6 people on beds.

Roommates Needed

  • All roommates wanted and seeking are matched up so far!
