NYSCAA Home NYSCAA 41st Reunion
August 12-15, 2004
San Diego, California

Schedule

As of July 13, 2004, here is the tentative schedule of events.

Thursday, August 12, 2004

Folks arrive. Official hotel check in time is 3:00 PM. If you arrive earlier, there may be a room available for you. We will have the hospitality suite open by at least 3:00 PM, and a San Diego (SD) reunion organizer will be hanging out in the lobby looking obvious.

As enough people arrive, groups head to Balboa Park. This is near San Diego's downtown, and offers interesting architecture, a rose and cactus garden, and some museums.

We'll gather on the lawn outside the art museum at 7:00 PM for a picnic dinner and a movie on the lawn.

Each evening we'll have the hospitality room open for gathering and snacks.

Friday, August 13, 2004

Each morning, the hospitality room will be open for a cold breakfast and pack your own lunches.

At around 10:00 AM groups will set out on one of two adventures.

Adventure one is a trip to the San Diego Zoo.

Adventure two is a trolley ride to Mission San Diego, followed by a trolley ride to the San Diego Harbor for a harbor cruise.

Both groups meet for dinner in Old Town (Mexican food). We have reservations at 7:30 PM.

Saturday, August 14, 2004

All activities on Saturday will be based out of "Surfside," an activity center at Scripps Institute of Oceanography on the waterfront north of La Jolla Shores.

The NYSCAA annual meeting will begin around 10:00 AM. All alumni are encouraged to attend and participate. The officers promise a well organized and relatively quick meeting.

Lunchtime activities are beach-centric, including surf lessons and beach volleyball.

Starting at 2:30 PM, we will have technical seminars led off by Rick Buxton PhD (CA 1972) who is the Director of functional MRI at UCSD and a leader in this field. Please contact the organizers if you would like to present a 30-45 minute seminar.

The Alumni Banquet begins at 6:00 PM. The banquet is luau-style and Hawaiian shirts are encouraged.

Sunday, August 15, 2004

We will head to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps around 9:30 AM. The aquarium opens at 10:00 AM, and we will be having a special lecture at 10:30 AM.

Alumni are encouraged to spend additional time in San Diego to take full advantage of all of our attractions. All of the planners have their favorite things to see in the area, so email us at if you'd like some ideas.
